Blogroll
What I want more than anything is to encourage a community of writing, thought, and fresh ideas in a society obsessed with rehashing. However, I, perhaps more than anybody, understand the importance of influence in the development of those things. This is a list of blogs that I keep up with that I think are worth your time. If you have something that you’d like to see added here, be it your own or one that you read, please please let me know, because I’d love to check it out! All you have to do is email a link to me at hjbarber@gmail.com.
Blogs to Read:
Whit Stiles
That feeling that you get in the pit of your stomach when you’re experiencing something that you know is true, honest, and beautiful is how you feel when reading Whit’s words. He is a musician, writer, husband, and soon-to-be-father, and what he has to say is worth your reading.
Don Miller
The author of Blue Like Jazz and Through Painted Deserts, both amazingly influential for me, keeps an almost daily blog of his thoughts. He is full of insight, originality, and the same stuff coffee has in the morning. He’s the kind of man you read and want to sit down and talk with.
Lousie Jaques
Reading this 20-year-old Sydneyian’s words make you want to sit in an old, comfortable chair in a cozy room lit by lamps, crack the spine of a worn piece of literature, and envelop yourself with the beauty of words. She writes poetry, book reviews, ponderings at bus stops, a “currently reading” list and insightful blog entries about why I’d like to visit Sydney.
Jill’s Reading
When she started her blog, she hadn’t read a single piece of classic literature. So she has been blogging her way through the journey one work at a time. She has suggested reading, a “favorites” list, and an impressive amount of reviews with no signs of slowing down. Wanting to get into reading? Click that link and start anywhere.

Adoption:
I have some dear friends either are in the process of or have recently completed adopting children, two of them from China! We are lucky enough to have blogs chronicling their prayer and physical needs, as well as the processes they are undergoing to get ready for this awesome thing. Read their stories and if you have the means and the calling, they all have links to Paypal accounts where you can help support them.
The Woods
The Scotts (*this one has been in the process for 7 YEARS. They just recently took home their baby girl, Salem. Come on, now.)

Hamilton, thank you so much for your thoughtful words and kind praise! I was very surprised and honoured to find my name here and I will be certainly checking out the other blogs you have suggested. Good luck with the reconstruction of your site and I look forward to seeing what comes of it! Happy New Year!

You are so welcome, dear
You are a fabulous and encouraging writer and the least I can do is let as many people as I can in on the secret. I’m subscribed to exactly two blogs and one of them is yours. Please keep writing, because people like me will keep reading!

Ms. Kemp, it is the only logical thing to do! We’re doing this one post a week thing together and the stuff you write about is worth reading! I know what it’s like in the beginning stages of this sort of thing with the frustration of writing what sometimes feels like 2 people, so I needed to do something to encourage you to realize that it just might be more than you realize
keep on going, never compromise on quality and originality, and everything will start falling in line!
